Editor, the Times:
Canada must not and should not be the fix-it guy for all those seeking asylum from a homeland where there is so much corruption and graft, and empire building, with donated money from Canada's taxpayers to other lands.
It is almost universally believed that the money eventually lands in bank accounts in Switzerland in the name of 'their leaders' who have done such an excellent job of fouling things up.
And don't forget, murder is also very much a fact of life for those who dare to dissent.
With no hope real court system to address their problems, it is no wonder their citizens flee. They need to fix their own country instead of fleeing to another country. Revolt and civil war could take care of the bully boys in their homeland
I advocate this since nothing else seems to work.
Those people should fix their own country instead of coming here where we get stuck with the problems they may very well bring with them. Then there is a secondary problem. That is line jumping to go ahead of people who have waited, some of them perhaps for years. Allowing this to happen is most unfair to those already in line. In allowing this to take place, we're doing the very thing they are so eager to flee from.
I'd be much in favour of seeing them on the first plane back their country of origin. In the long run, it will be much less costly for us than permitting them to stay here. It's time for us to say 'No'.
