Wrestlers crash in Sept. 23

Fall season starts at Abbotsford Arts Centre

All Star Wrestling kicks off its fall season Sept. 23 with "old school-style" wresting that is sure to have fans on their feet.

Wrestling fans can enjoy a blast from the past featuring All Star Wrestlers who were on the mat in the 1980s on BCTV, like Gorgeous Michelle Starr, Oly Olsen and The Mighty Iton, along with new wrestlers just stepping on the canvas.

The ASW opens its fall card with current ASW Heavyweight Champion Gangrel the Vampire Warrior defending his belt, after what may be an over the top rope battle royal. Gangrel was the leader of the Brood in the WWE Attitude Era, which was comprised of himself, Edge and Christian. He now makes his home on the Independent wrestling scene and is a regular on All Star Wrestling events throughout British Columbia.

The winner of the Battle Royal will get the title shot with Gangrel. Wrestlers who are eliminated in the second through fifth places will form tag teams and wrestle for the vacant ASW Tag Team belts.

The wrestler who is the sixth man left will take on Disco Fury for the ASW Cruiserweight title, so all the final six have something to fight for. To date, 13 wrestlers have signed up.

ASW is a locally owned wrestling promotion and presents wrestling events in Cloverdale and Abbotsford on a monthly basis. The family-oriented shows won't have parents covering their kids' eyes or leaving any of the events early.

All Star Wrestling opens the fall season at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way, Abbotsford Senior Secondary.

Tickets: $15 for front row, $12 for general, available at Four Aces Comics, 33790 George Ferguson Way, Abbotsford. Call 604-853-3790, or buy online at vtixonline.com/ event.php?event_id=353.
