The Fraser Valley is chockful of talented artists, artisans and hobbyists who come out in full force at this time of the year to sell their wares at various fairs.

The vendors at these events offer a diversity of unique, handmade goods that make very special gifts that recipients will cherish, and that often become treasured family heirlooms.

Where else can one find beautifully crafted rolling pins that any baker would be happy to display, or silverware given new life as silver bracelets?

Abbotsford and Mission recently held their big craft fairs, but the local arts councils continue to offer locally-made artisan goods in their respective art centres, and there are still many smaller craft fair events coming up. Keep an eye on the Abbotsford Mission Times listings for these.

The next one features 30 vendors at the Fieldstone Vintage Market on Dec. 3, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Bakerview Ecodairy at 1356 Sumas Way, Abbotsford.

The craft market is held in conjunction with the venue's Coats for Kids Campaign, to collect warm clothes for needy adults and children in Abbotsford. Children who bring a donation of clothing get a free tour of the EcoDairy on Saturday.
