Barbecue marks 40 years of caring in Mission

Meals on Wheels, parenting groups, emergency shelter, mental health support, multi-cultural bridge building, Christmas food hampers, seniors and youth activities - for 40 years, Mission Community Services has played a vital role in supporting and building a healthy society.

To mark its four decades of service, the agency invites the public to a community barbecue on Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Canadian Tire in the Junction Shopping Centre.

"We would like to invite the entire community to join us on the 19th to help us celebrate," said MCS executive director Tony Lapoint.

The public event is open to everyone. Along with the barbecue by donation (proceeds will go to the Mission Food Centre) there is a birthday cake cutting ceremony, a Kids Zone, interactive displays, games, prizes and lots more.
