Seven documentaries have been selected for this year's edition of White Rock Social Justice Film Festival.

The ninth edition of the festival will offer by-donation screenings at First United Church in White Rock on Friday, Feb. 22 and Saturday, Feb. 23.

The films are chosen "to help inform our community and provide support for neighbourhood action on important issues facing Canadians today," according to the society that hosts the two-day festival.

The festival kicks off Feb. 22 with a 7 p.m. screening of The Four Horsemen, director Ross Ashcroft's look at "the fundamental flaws in the economic system which have brought our civilization to the brink of disaster."

The festival closes on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 23 with Sing Your Song, a biographical film by Susanne Rostock that recounts the life and legacy of Harry Belafonte - not only as a great entertainer, but as an important activist in the civil rights movement.

Other films to be shown during the festival include David Versus Monsanto, Haiti: Where did the Money Go?, Future of Public Health Care, On the Line and Oil in Eden. For complete details, visit whiterocksocialjusticefilmfestival.ca.
