The Abbotsford International Airshow's 50th celebration was an unqualified success on all levels and had near record attendance, say organizers.
"It was outstanding. The weather was perfect, the show was excellent, the crowds were great and everybody got home safe," said airshow president Ron Price.
Historically, attendance for the airshow sees about 80,000 to 100,000 come through the gates during the three-day event.
Attendance may be up by at least 30 per cent this year, said Price.
"People came out because it was the 50th year and [the airshow] is a great show and it was a great flying program," he said.
"The static display was great, too. We had an awful lot of planes for people to see and touch."
Crowds were wowed as usual by the demonstration teams such as the USAF Thunderbirds, the Canadian Forces SkyHawks and the iconic CF Canadian Snowbirds.
"The Snowbirds were outstanding as usual. They put on a tremendous show."
The show ran smoothly because of community partners, volunteers and area residents, said Price.
