The Abbotsford accounting firm Cochrane & Associates, founded by Al Cochrane in 1978, was acquired by KPMG, effective Nov. 1.

Cochrane & Associates delivers a range of professional services to primarily agricultural-based clients in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island, B.C. Interior, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

"We welcome Cochrane and Associates to the KPMG Enterprise team," said Rob Brouwer, a KPMG Canadian managing partner. "This acquisition further solidifies our commitment to the changing needs of the agricultural industry in Western Canada."

Together the firms will continue to support small and mid-sized agricultural businesses at every stage, said Dennis Fortnum, another KPMG Canadian managing partner.

"Given the similarities in culture, work ethic, and experience, KPMG is an ideal match for our clients and our people," said Cochrane. "With KPMG, we look forward to providing agricultural businesses the support needed to adapt to this changing business environment."
