Elmo and the Cookie Monster caused quite a stir among kids and adults alike at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Friday afternoon.

The beloved Sesame Street characters visited the pediatric ward at ARH and brought smiles to the faces of kids who are undergoing medical treatment.

Minutes after arriving, they were mobbed by a group of waiting kids before making individual visits to young patients who couldn't leave their rooms.

Like furry rock stars they hugged adoring fans, gave high fives and posed for pictures.

While making their way down the hospital corridors, passersby both young and old invariably stopped in their tracks and pointed yelling, "Look it's Elmo! Look it's the Cookie Monster!"

The pair even had a "handler" along who ensured everybody got a fair chance at accessing the celebrities.

Before the two characters left the building, the nurses on the floor also got a chance to cuddle up to Cookie and Elmo for a photo.

The two made the visit prior to the first showing of the production Elmo Makes Music running at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre from Friday through Sunday.

Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all the other Sesame Street friends are also taking the stage to share their love of music with kids and show that everyone can make beautiful music together.
