Editor, the Times:
I wish to touch on the white crosses in the farmer's field signifying all the abortions in Canada. I know everyone has their thoughts, feelings and opinions and that should be respected and allowed. I will state facts and then my opinion.
At conception, the baby gets inherited characteristics from both mother and father. At conception the baby gets the blueprint for sex, blood type, eye and hair colour, nose and ear shape and some personality traits.
The baby's heart beats by the 25th day after conception and also develops the nervous and circulatory system.
In other countries, the boy is valued and the girls get aborted or killed at birth.
All living things need and desire to populate their kind, and in these countries is their gender ratio now out of balance?
For my opinion, abortion should not be used as birth control. I can see it, perhaps, if the mother's life is in danger. There are many couples who cannot conceive and would love to adopt an unwanted baby. I don't know, but if there is a list of these couples perhaps they can be matched up to the mother before baby is aborted.
One more thought, the people who object to these crosses, I'm sure if you had a lifesaving abortion it is a reminder of your guilt perhaps and that is sad and difficult to live with for those with a conscience.
I feel the meaning of these crosses is to bring to light the "birth control" abortions. I don't need to say this but life begins at conception.
