Police have issued a nation-wide warrant for the arrest of James John Jackson, since the federal inmate went missing from Ferndale Institution in Mission on Tuesday.

Mission RCMP report that the corrections staff at the minimum security federal prison on Dewdney Trunk Road became aware of his absence during the 11 p.m. headcount on March 19.

After a search of the facility failed to locate Jackson, a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Jackson is described as 6 feet tall, 215 lbs with short brown hair, blue and possibly some facial hair. He has the name Rachael tattooed on his right forearm and the initials AJ tattooed on his left upper arm.

Jackson has a range of convictions including theft, possession of stolen property, assault, unlawful use and possession of firearms, escaping custody and obstruction of justice.

Anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
