For what might be the last year at Agrifair, the Lord Strathcona Mounted Troop will perform in the rodeo arena, better known as the Thunder Bowl, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
On Monday, the troop will be inside the Agrifair Arena as part of the Country Horse Classic Show.
This ride is a classic! Horse and rider as one - how is it that they can work so in sync?
The 25 members of the Strathcona Mounted Troop are members of a regular armoured regiment of the Canadian Forces of Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians).
Their members volunteer for one or two years to serve in much the same manner as Strathconas did in the 1920s.
Their daily schedule includes the care of their mounts and equipment, cavalry drills and training. They are also required to remain ready for active military duty, and participate in trade specific training.
The troop requires permission to start each show. The salute must be given by an honoured guest prior to the performance commencing.
Don't miss your chance to see them perform, brought to you by Chances Abbotsford.
