Outdoor burn ban lifted

Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service has rescinded the extended outdoor burning ban now that the traditional autumn monsoons have returned. With the recent heavy rainfall, the unusually dry conditions in the municipality have abated. However, with the lifting of the ban, residents are still expected to adhere to bylaw restrictions.

Outdoor burns in residential backyards are prohibited and ditch burning requires approval by AFRS. Construction waste burning is not allowed, nor are most land clearing burns, and any that are allowed need permits. Burning illegal materials such garbage, plastics, furniture, or petroleum products is strictly enforced with fines and/or cost recovery. For more information or questions on outdoor burning call AFRS at 604-853-3566.
