Kim Marie Scott's upcoming solo art show will be the first of many, she expects.
"For me this is just the beginning. This my first show and I anticipate doing many more," says the Ladner painter.
Scott presents the exhibit, titled Home and Abroad, at the Tsawwassen Library during the month of September.
"It's a show I've wanted to do for a long time," says Scott, who runs Country Lane Gallery and Frame Shop in Ladner.
"I've been so involved with framing. I've just decided that it's the right time to focus on my art and promote that, hence the show," she says.
She hopes to have about 40 paintings in a range of sizes, in acrylic, oil and watercolour, on display.
"I love to paint my surroundings, here in Delta and when I travel," says Scott, a native of Whangarei, New Zealand.
Expect local scenery like dikes and waterways as well as scenes from destinations like Italy and France.
Scott says it's important to have her first show locally.
"For me, it's important I start this venture, this part of my career, at home. That's where I want the starting point to be."
A self-taught artist, Scott has been painting for over 15 years.
She says her late mother-in-law was a "beautiful watercolourist" and always encouraged her to try it.
Home and Abroad runs during September at the Tsawwassen Library, 1321A-56th St. There will be an opening on Thursday, Sept. 2 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
