Abbotsford West MLA Mike de Jong is expected to be acclaimed as the B.C. Liberal candidate for the riding on Wednesday evening.

Premier Christy Clark will also be at the "candidate selection celebration" to talk politics and to rally party members.

De Jong, currently the province's finance minister and government house leader, has been re-elected for the past five terms. He was first elected as an Abbotsford MLA in 1994.

The nomination meeting starts at 5: 30 p.m. at Garden Park Tower, and is open to all B.C. Liberals in the area. However, only registered riding members are permitted to vote, if there are other candidates.
