Here’s your chance to tell B.C.’s finance minister – Abbotsford West MLA Mike de Jong – what to do about the provincial budget.

An all-party committee on finance and government services is in Abbotsford tonight to get public input on next year’s provincial budget.

The presentation and hearing runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Summit Room, Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre, 36035 North Parallel Rd., Abbotsford.

The committee has been traveling around the province to hear ideas and concerns from the public. It can make recommendations on the upcoming budget and the government’s three-year service plans and budget of B.C.’s eight statutory officers.

Presenters are asked to make 14 copies of their submissions, but no PowerPoint presentations.

To register, contact the Parliamentary Committees Office by phone, 1-877-428-8337, or by e-mail: FinanceCommittee@leg.bc.ca.

If you can’t make the hearings, the deadline for submissions is Oct. 18, 2012.

Share your views by email at clerkcomm@leg.bc.ca, or get more details at www.leg.bc.ca/cmt and click on the Finance and Government Services link.

The committee is required, in accordance with the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act, to report on the results of the consultations by Nov. 15.
