Police have issued a sketch of a suspect that recently crashed into a police car and then used a gun to hijack another vehicle while fleeing after breaking into a rural Abbotsford home.

The man sought likely has ties to other communities, and was involved in a serious incident that involved a break and enter of a residence, the brandishing of a handgun, a robbery and multiple collisions, said Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald.

"He appears to be desperate and dangerous and we are liaising with other jurisdictions to see if we can find this guy," said MacDonald.

The suspect, who is described as Caucasian in his 20s or 30s and wearing a dark hoodie, fled after breaking into a residence in the 30000-block of Nicholson Road around 5 p.m. on Dec. 21.

He fled from police in a pickup - originally stolen from Burnaby - and headed south on Mt. Lehman Road, hitting a police cruiser parked at the end of the driveway.

Police attempted to stop the truck with a spike belt but it continued until smashing into another vehicle at Mt. Lehman Road and Cardinal Avenue.

Brandishing a handgun, the man then forced a woman out of a Toyota Corolla and used it to get away.

The suspect was last sighted heading westbound on Highway 1 in a 2006 grey Corolla, with B.C. licence plate 726 PHL. The car was found in another community.
