Homicide investigators are investigating a possible murder after a woman's body was found in a Mission mobile home park on Thursday afternoon.
Police have surrounded the scene with yellow tape and cordoned off the complex in the 34000 block of Lougheed Highway just east of Mission. "This is in the very early stages of investigation, but it appears the female has met with foul play and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken conduct, " said IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Pound in a press release.
The RCMP attended the Mission Mobile Home Park at 4:15 p.m. yesterday in response to a call about a dead woman inside a residence.
RCMP officers are interviewing nearby residents and investigators expect to be on scene throughout Friday to obtain any evidence.
The Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS) and the BC Coroners Service are assisting.
The identity of the victim has not been confirmed, said Pound. Police are not revealing the victim's age or whether she resided in the home.
Investigators have no suspects as yet and are asking anyone with information about the death to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or by e-mail at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
