A semi-trailer truck was gutted after it caught fire along Highway 1 on Thursday morning.
Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service was called out to the highway west of the Vedder River just after 10 a.m., according to a press release.
Crews arrived to find the truck fully engulfed in flames and the trailer unit at risk.
The firefighters worked hard to prevent the trailer from catching fire, as it was loaded with roofing materials and tar that would have been difficult to put out and could cause considerable environmental damage.
The blaze also started a small grass fire, which crews quenched before it spread.
There were no injuries but the truck was a write-off.
