WEST Vancouver police are looking to the public to help them catch a pair of suspected fraudsters.
The case relates to an incident that took place Feb. 2, when a customer at a Starbucks coffee shop in Dundarave reported that her wallet had been stolen. The victim didn't see who took it, but a few hours later, two people reportedly tried to make a substantial purchase on one of her stolen credit cards at a Lower Mainland Best Buy, and those individuals were caught on tape.
Two months later, on April 5, someone tried to use another stolen card to buy a $1,800 camera lens at London Drugs in Park Royal. Again the transaction was declined and again the suspected fraudsters were caught on tape.
West Vancouver investigators recognized the people shown in the footage as the same two recorded in the February incident. They have now posted images of the suspects on the WVPD site in the hope that a member of the public will be able to identify them. One suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man in his 30s; the other is a Caucasian woman in her 20s with an Eastern European accent.
Anyone with information about either case is asked to contact the WVPD at 604-925-7300 and ask for Const. Franco Del Bianco.
