A 25-year-old Mission man who is a person of interest in a Dec. 2 fatal pedestrian hit and run collision was arrested in the community Wednesday night, on charges of break and enter and uttering threats.

The suspect is in police custody, but Mission RCMP have not released his name.

On Sunday, 65-year-old Elinor Clark was struck as she walked westward on the paved shoulder in the 32300 block of 14th Avenue near Caribou Street, hand-in-hand with her husband, just before 4:30 p.m.

Clark was airlifted from the collision site and was pronounced dead at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.

Police say two witnesses reported the suspect vehicle, a blue 2007 Honda Accord, and another vehicle were speeding as they headed west on 14th Avenue, when one of the cars passed the other on the right.

The Mission RCMP have appealed to the public for any information regarding the incident and the occupants of the suspect vehicle.

No further information is available at this time, Sgt. Glen Carrier of the Mission detachment said in a press release Thursday.

Witnesses with information should call the detachment at 604-826-7161.
