An event on Friday, June 24 (7 to 9 p.m.) celebrates the opening of annual "ARTS 2011" exhibit and also "John Cranswick: A Quiet Nature," at the Bear Creek Park facility. "ARTS 2011" features juried works by more than 50 established and emerging visual artists from Surrey and beyond, while "A Quiet Nature" offers a look at environmental-themed images by Surrey-based Cranswick. Both exhibits are on view until Aug. 21, along with Ellen Moffat's "vBox" sculpture/musical instrument piece and "From the Land of Five Rivers" show, done in recognition of The Year of India in Canada.
