Canada set the stage for a final pool showdown with France at the women's rugby World Cup in London, England.

The Canadian national women's team, including five players from the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club, scored six tries in a 40-10 victory over Sweden on Tuesday.

The win leaves the No. 4-ranked Canadians and third-seeded France to duke it out for top spot in Pool C on Saturday. The winner will win a spot in the semifinals.

Burnaby Lake flyhalf Anna Schnell was good on five of six conversions in the win.

Schnell also booted the Canadian women to an opening day 37-10 win over Scotland on Aug. 20.

Schnell kicked for a total of 12 points on two penalty kicks and three converts, and is currently second in overall scoring at the competition.

Burnaby Lake winger and team vice-captain Maria Gallo also scored a try for Canada in the win over the Scots.

Olympian bobsledder Heather Moyse scored three tries in the win over Sweden.

Moyse led all try scorers at the 2006 World Cup with seven scores. She is more than halfway to that total with four so far after Canada's two wins.

Canada and France split a pair of international matches played earlier this season in Europe.

In the World Cup format, the top teams from each of the pools advance to the semifinals, along with the next best team out of all three groups.

"The game against France is going to be a humdinger. It's fourth versus third and we lost at Stade to them," said Canada head coach Johnathan Long in a Rugby Canada press release.

"Both (teams) know that both of us are going to bring it. (France) will put their strongest side out against us, something they haven't done yet, and it's going to be one hell of a game."

Burnaby Lake front row forwards Corinne Jacobsen, Kim Donaldson and starting scrum half Julia Sugawara are also on the Canadian squad in England.
