The University of the Fraser Valley men's and women's basketball teams are headed to the 2013 Canada West Conference quarter-final playoffs.

The women will host the University of Saskatchewan Huskies at the Envision Athletic Centre starting tonight and the men will travel to Saskatoon to face the Huskies.

The playoffs begin Feb. 21 and are best-of-three contests, so the third game is based on the results of the first two days. All games start at 7 p.m.

The Cascades women won the 2013 Pacific Division regular season championship with a school record 18-4 mark.

In their final regular season match-ups, the Cascades men split the weekend with Trinity Western, beating the Spartans 6958 on Friday at home, before losing 74-61 to TWU in Langley.

Sam Freeman led all scorers with 32 points, 10 rebounds Friday night. Kevon Parchment added 14 points and Kyle Grewal scored seven.

In Saturday's loss, the Cascades were led by Freeman, playing in his final regular season game with 17 points (the veteran guard was one of four to play the entire 40 minutes). James York added 16 points, Parchment 15 and Grewal 11

"I was very impressed with our play in the two middle quarters tonight," said head coach Adam Friesen Saturday. "We went cold in the fourth, credit Trinity with playing great defence and not giving us many opportunities to shoot. But we need to regroup for next week's playoff series with Saskatchewan."

The Cascades men start on Friday in Saskatchewan against the 2013 Prairie Division champion Huskies.
