The University of the Fraser Valley men's basketball team comes into the second half of the Canada West regular season sitting in second place in the Pacific Division with a 7-3 record, and currently ranked sixth in the CIS Top 10 poll.
The Cascades are led by fifth-year guard Sam Freeman with a 19.4 points per game average. First-year guard Kevon Parchment is averaging 19.3 and was named the final CW Athlete of the Week before the holiday break. Senior Kyle is averaging 15.3 and 8.0 rebounds per game.
The Cascades are currently riding a five game winning streak and are 2-2 at home and 5-1 on the road.
UFV's weekend opponents come into the Envision Centre both with winning records; Alberta is currently 9-1, in first place in the Prairie Division of Canada West and Saskatchewan, 6-4, is good for fourth place in the highly competitive Prairie Division.
Former UFV bench boss Barnaby Craddock will be back at the Envision Athletic Centre with his U of A Golden Bears. He coached the Cascades for five seasons before leaving to take the helm in Alberta.
The UFV women's team take on the same schools at 6 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. The men play at 8 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
