With a 14-2 record, the University of the Fraser Valley women's volleyball team made short work of the Capilano University Blues Friday night, winning 3-0 in straight sets and followed that with a 3-1 victory on Saturday at home.

Head coach Dennis Bokenfohr was pleased with the result.

"A great weekend topped off tonight with a 3-1 win over the Blues. Out of the gate we played well again."

The winning weekend keeps the Cascades in the top spot in the CCAA Top 10 poll.

"I was very impressed with [Kate Bilodeau's] complete game. She really stepped up with solid passing and transitioned into aggressive offense. Kayla Bruce led the charge for us again tonight, furthering her dominance on this league," said Bokenfohr.

The key to the Cascades' success is their commitment to hard work, said the coach, adding the core of the team has been playing together for about three years.

"We have a mature team that trusts one another. We make realistic goals and work hard in pursuit of that goal," said Bokenfohr.

"We know the opportunities to honestly chase after a national title do not come by very often. We always compete and refuse to take this opportunity for granted. It is going to be a fun finish over these next four weeks leading up to provincials."
