Hundreds descended upon Thunderbird Square in Abbotsford Sunday to pay their respects for the fallen on Remembrance Day. Wreaths were laid at the cenotaph by the Silver Cross mother, legion members, dignitaries and service groups, while folding chairs reserved for veterans of the First and Second World Wars sat conspicuously empty.
In Mount Lehman, Matsqui Army, Navy and Air Force vets were honoured with a flypass by the Fraser Blues of Langley in vintage Navion aircraft, which also flew over the Abbotsford ceremony.
Legion members in Mission marched to the Clarke Theatre for an indoor Remembrance Day service, before the laying of the wreaths back at the cenotaph at the Mission legion on Logan Avenue.
In the afternoon the Royal Canadian Legions in Abbotsford and Mission held an open house for all members, vets and guests.
