When you 'Think Pink' do you automatically think 'Pink Tattoo'?

Well you may after this Friday's Abbotsford Heat 'Pink in the Rink' hockey game with money raised going breast cancer research.

One local business, Memento Mori Studios, is joining forces with the Heat for 'Inked at Pink in the Rink,' and offering a pink ribbon tattoo and two tickets to Friday's game for just $100.

"A big part of our business from day one was being involved in the community and representing tattoo people in a positive light," explained studio director Chris Gauthier.

By providing people, from breast cancer survivors to their families and friends, with pink ribbon survival tattoos, Gauthier and his team are hoping to raise a lot of money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

"We are bringing tattooing to a new platform, with Pink in the Rink night," added Gauthier.

Two-time breast cancer survivor Feather Bryce will be on hand at the AESC, first to sing the national anthem before the hockey game, and then to have a special tattoo at the Memento Mori booth - set up on the concourse at the south end of the rink.

Gauthier, with his unique handle-bar moustache, continues to keep a high profile for his business and giving back to the city is also a top priority for the long-time Abbotsford resident.

A graduate of Robert Bateman Secondary, Gauthier has identified several local projects he wants to help.

In addition to the cancer fundraiser, his studio also gives to the Abbotsford Food Bank.

Last year at the end of summer, he introduced Anchor August, where folks could come in and get an anchor tattoo for $50.

The studio raised $2,000 with that initiative for the local food bank. Customers are already asking if that will be on again this year and Gauthier said the answer is 'Yes."

For Pink in the Rink night they will select about five participants to receive their cancer ribbon tattoos live at the game on the concourse.

All other tattoos will be done later by appointment at their studio in the Abbotsford Village Mall on Sumas Way.
