This Spring Presentation House Gallery announced our second in a series of successful photography competitions for young people on the North Shore. We asked local youth, ages 13 to 18, to submit a series of 3 photos in response to our theme, Hangups & Hangouts. In total we received 124 amazing entries!

The top three series' of photographs were unveiled at a reception held Saturday May 23.

North Vancouver Mayor Darrell Mussatto was in attendance to congratulate all of the participants and to present the winners with prizes. First Place, Justin Scott, Seacove Secondary, received a cheque for $1000. Second Place, Andrew Kim, Windsor Secondary, received a $500 Grouse Mountain Gift Card and a $150 Gift Card from Park Royal Shopping Center, as well as a Holga 135 camera courtesy of Beau Photo. Third Place, Amelia Stubbs, Handsworth Secondary, received a $500 Grouse Mountain Gift Card and a $100 Gift Card from Park Royal Shopping Center. All attending participants were entered into a live draw for Opus Framing and Art Supplies gifts certificates and a Holga 135 camera courtesy of Beau Photo!

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the young photographers who participated this season. It is tremendously encouraging to see the depth and level of creativity displayed by all the entrants. Because of the depth of talent on display this year, we are pleased to announce a showcase exhibition of selected works from the competition, which will be on view at Presentation House Gallery from June 10th to the 14th. Gallery hours will be from noon to 5pm, and admission to the gallery is always by donation. Please stop by and see the work of North Shore's promising young artists!
